This part is about what happens across sessions. Why Static Assessments Fail

Team interventions typically produce a single data point. A DiSC profile once a year. An offsite once a quarter. A pulse survey every two weeks that averages the responses and shows you a number. Each of these tells you something about the team at one moment in time. None of them tell you anything about trajectory.

Trajectory is where the real information lives. Is the team getting better at handling conflict or worse? Is psychological safety building or decaying? The problem with Tuckman's framework in practice is identification. The theory is sound. Applying it requires longitudinal behavioral data, and almost no team has that data. Managers guess, based on their own intuition about where the team is. The guesses are usually wrong because the thing you can observe from the outside (how much the team is talking) is a weak indicator of stage.
